Recognizing 4-note chords

The wide interval range of these chords guarantees at least two of the three intervals are going to cross a gap.  In the following figure there are examples of some common 4-note chords based on Major, minor, and diminished triads.  Observe that for each triad-based group, only the top note changes by adding an interval of either 2, 3, or 4.
